Craziest Japanese TV Ads: #10 – Anabukin-chan (Anabuki Corporation)

Tell me, who will ever think of integrating Little Red Riding Hood, Some Bunch of animals with big bulges, dancing in the forest, for a Construction Company Advertisment?

Also,There’s too much irony in here, with the fact that the construction of such buildings (Like what Anabuki does) destroys the habitat of these animals. And how does the “servicemation”(tr. service deluxe) relate to the whole ad?

Just insane, really insane. Whoever did the concept to this CM must be given a toast of sake. Kampai!

BTW, Anabukin-chan is a cutie though :>

Haruhi Suzumiya’s Gensou (Fantasy) orchestra album had successfully mashed up the SOS Dan’s God-ness with Disney’s formula; If not totally, at least with the awesomeness of the compositions.

Haikyo: An Otaku’s Abandoned Fortress

As I stumble around the haikyo photos online at haikyo.org, this photo caught my attention because of what’s left in the abandoned house. Gundam model kits, SEGA CDs, Anime and Idol Magazines, and Pikachu. Now that makes me wonder, why does the owner left it there? Is their evacuation rushed? What was the story behind their evacuation?

Now that hyped my dream to visit a haikyo someday. It’s something unique, and exciting. And that will be soon. :)

Den-den Town: Akihabara’s “Baby Sister”

We all know Akihabara as the mecca of the Japanese Pop Culture. It is where everything from your favorite anime, to the cutest maids ever is located. But what others might not know is that Akihabara is not the only place in Japan to offer such things. On the eastern part of Japan, in the Osaka Perfecture, lies the “Baby sister of Akihabara”, Nipponbashi.

Den-den town, as most of the people call it, it showcases all the Akihabara goodness for the Eastern Japanese people dubbing it as the “Akiba in the East”. Anime shops, appliance stores, and everything in between. In its early ages (Edo-Meiji Period), Nipponbashi was called Nagamachi wherein second-hand bookshops are abundant. It is after the Second World War when the electronic shops emerged therefore naming it as the “Den-den Town” (FYI: Den-den means electric) it is around the nineties-early 2000s when otaku specialty stores emerged around the vicinity.
